Early Life and Education

Tarker was born in New Jersey. At age 5, her family moved to a small village outside of Pirmasens, Germany, where she lived until she left to attend Interlochen Arts Academy as a visual artist.[1]

Career

In 2016, Tarker participated in a residency at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference, where she developed her play Laura and the Sea.

Tarker's plays An Almanac for Farmer's and Lover's in Mexico and Laura and the Sea were listed on the 2015 and 2016 Kilroys' Lists, which recognize excellence in un-produced or rarely produced works by women, transgender, and non-binary playwrights.

Tarker's play Dionysus was Such a Nice Man was selected by the Wilma Theater to be their first "HotHouse" commission. The Wilma produced the world premier in 2019, directed by Dominique Serrand.[2]

Her writing has also appeared in The Paris Review[3], and in the McSweeney's anthology "I Know What’s Best for You: Stories on Reproductive Freedom," edited by Shelly Oria.[4]
