Leslie C. "Les" Gulbrandson (October 28, 1922 – October 3, 2009)[1] was an American lawyer who served as a justice of the Montana Supreme Court from 1983 to 1989.[2]
Born in Vida, McCone County, Montana, Gulbrandson served in the United States Air Force for five years during World War II as a combat pilot.[3] He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart and five Air Medals for missions over Japan.[3] He received a J.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1952, then returned to Glendive, Montana, where he engaged in the general practice of law for the next seven years and served as the Glendive City Attorney.[2]
Gulbrandson served as a District Judge for the 7th Judicial District from 1960-1982 after being appointed by J. Hugo Aronson in December 1959. He was elected Associate Justice of the Montana Supreme Court in November 1982.[4] He retired on August 31, 1989.
Gulbrandson had a wife named Billie and three stepchildren.[3] He died on October 3, 2009 in Tucson, Arizona at age 86.[2]
