Latraps
LATRAPS (LPKS LATRAPS) is Latvia's largest agricultural cooperative[1],owned by Latvian farmers. It specializes in rapeseed trading, processing, exporting and competeing globally, providing essential agricultural services like machinery, fuel, and insurance. LATRAPS was founded on April 22, 2000[2] and registered on May 9, 2000[2] by 12 farms from Dobele and Jelgava counties. Today LATRAPS unites over 1,119 farmers[3] from all over Latvia. The headquarters is close to Lithuania's border and has its own locomotive and rail way that can move 100,00 tons[4] of grain each year. Since 2023 Latraps has improved its equity ratio and reached a profit of 2.7 million EUR.[1]
Cooperative
Latraps has over 1000 members, equivalent to around 25% of the Latvian farming sector[3], making it the largest agricultural cooperative in the country. LATRAPS was founded on April 22, 2000 by 12 farms[2]

Location
The center location is Eleja, Jelgavas region, at Lietuva street 16A, close to Lithuania's border. This location was chosen for its position in the heart of the Zemgale region. Additionally Latraps has its own locomotive and rail way that can move 100,000 tons of grain each year[3].

In 2008. Latraps opened a office building in Eleja. Besides the headquarters Latraps has also operates multiple offices and grain acceptance points across Latvia[5].

Port
LATRAPS primarily uses the Freeport of Riga[6] for its grain export even though its 50% + 1 owned by SIA “ Alpha Osta"[6]. Additional locations are ports of Liepaja and Ventspils to ensure uninterrupted grain export.
Net worth
Since 2023 Latraps has improved its equity ratio[1] and reached a profit of 2.7 million EUR. Since 2024, Latraps has improved it's equity ratio from 28% to 32%. During the reporting period, Latraps exported grain to more than 30 countries, securing 20%[7] market share.
Tragedy
On June 30 , 2022 Latraps suffered a tragedy[8], that lead to a workers death. The 46 year old man suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to a medical facility. Two days later it was reported that the man had died[8]. Although Latraps employees have life insurance, the company stated that they provide additional support to his family .
Latvia's police had started criminal proceedings[8], part one of the regulations for labor protection and worker safety and was clarified as an exact circumstance of the tragedy.
Fundraisers
Since the Russian and Ukrainian war, Latraps has provided farmers with free sunflower seeds in simbolism to show support to Ukrainian civilians. This brings people to take photos in the feelds which spreds awarnes.[9]
Donations are happening via “ Ziedo.lv[10] ” which is a charity organization that has been operating since 2003[10], providing help to others. Ziedo.lv offers a secure way to donate to carefully selected and vetted charity projects. Latraps made an donation form called " LATRAPS ZIEDO - Dāvinām saules spēku! " ( "Latraps donates - gift the pover of the suns! " )[9]. On August 25, 2024, The LATRAPS Cooperative double the donated amount[9]. Sunflowers played an important role in Ukrainian culture, so much so, they have named it their national flower. Ukrainians believe that sunflowers protect against evil spirits, bad fortune and illness. Sunflowers are found in traditional Ukrainian songs, poetry, and art.[11]
