The single is the group's first release since their debut studio album Access All Areas (2024). Upon release, it entered the UK Singles Chart at number 45. Flo performed the song live for the first time at the 2026 MOBO Awards, where they won the award for Best R&B/Soul Act, their first MOBO win.[2]

"Leak It" received widespread acclaim from music critics upon release, with many noting it as a confident and stylistically evolved entry in FLO's catalogue.
Stereogum praised the track for sounding "less like TLC or 702 and more like the UK girl groups who thrived around the Y2K era," singling it out as "a slinky, hooky track" that "does [the] legacy proud."
