Early life and education
Raines was raised in Lytham, near Blackpool in Lancashire, England. He began singing at the age of 16 and studied musical theatre at Blackpool and The Fylde College, graduating with a BA (Hons) in 2011.[1]
He later trained in classical voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.[1]
Career
Early career
Following his training, Raines worked as a professional singer and performer in the United Kingdom and internationally. He has also appeared in television programming, including documentary-style productions.
G4 (2018–2023)
In 2018, Raines joined the classical crossover group G4, replacing original member Ben Thapa after a nationwide audition process.[2]
G4 rose to prominence as runners-up on the first series of The X Factor in 2004.
During his time with the group, Raines performed extensively across the UK, including national tours and annual Christmas concert series.[3]
He frequently performed in his hometown of Blackpool, including concerts at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.[4]
In 2023, Raines left G4, with Britain's Got Talent winner Jai McDowall joining the group.[5][6]

Raines has stated that he has dyslexia and has credited educational support with helping him succeed academically.[1]
