Born in the village of Ilias, near the village of Vuno in Himarë, to Father Milo Tole Gjidede, an Orthodox theologian, and his mother Aleksandra Josif Averbah (Gjidede) from Dhërmi of German descent. Raised in conditions of extreme poverty since childhood, he was forced to engage in hard labor in agriculture and livestock farming. This period coincided with a series of catastrophic sufferings and horrors of the war between the occupying Italian-Greek armies in 1940-1941 and the National Liberation War against the German Nazi occupation in 1943-1944.

He completed his primary education in his native village of Ilias from 1942-1947 with interruptions due to World War II, and his 7-year school in Dhërmi from 1947-1950. Furthermore, he continued his secondary education at the "Asim Zeneli" gymnasium in Gjirokastër on a state scholarship, graduating with excellent results. From here began the first confident step of his life's journey towards knowledge and patriotic citizenship. The communist state of the time sent him for higher studies in Sofia, Bulgaria, at the Medical University, Department of Dentistry (1954-1960), which he also completed with very good results.

In 1983, he defended his dissertation for the scientific degree of "Doctor of Medical Sciences" with the study "Developmental anomalies of the facial skeleton and methods of surgical treatment" across 169 pages with a rich bibliographic apparatus of 194 authors, including Albanians.^[1]

Following his successful studies, he was appointed as a doctor in the specialty of Dentistry in the city of Vlorë on 2 September 1960, and four months later became the Director of the Dental Service for the Vlorë district, a duty he performed for 28 years. During this period, he simultaneously practiced the specialty of Maxillofacial Surgery at the Vlorë City Hospital for 50 consecutive years. For his contribution and work, he has been awarded many titles and decorations. ^[1][2] He has written and published books on scientific medical themes as well as historical-literary ones. He is also fluent in several foreign languages: English, Bulgarian, Russian, Italian, and Greek.
