Lorna Margaret Cantle (Bol) was born in Sydney, Australia, on 4 August 1923, daughter to Cyril Cantle and Ursula (Anderson).[1] She later married Rudolf Bol in 1945. [2]

Career

Bol was an Australian playwright, with her first play titled Treadmill being produced by La Boite Theatre in Brisbane in April 1977.The play was in effect a commentary on the cycle of poverty, influenced by environment and lack of education and opportunity for women living in small, coastal towns.[3]

In 1986, Bol's play, But I'm Still Here was staged at La Boite Theatre. It was produced after being acclaimed at the Australian National Playwright's Conference in Canberra in 1985.[4]

Bol had two more plays produced; A Special Place was staged at the Cremorne Theatre in Brisbane in 1989[5]; and I Don't Want to Die in Melbourne premiered at Metro Arts Brisbane in 2006[6].
