Early life
LUCID J was born in Kamloops and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He has spoken in interviews about his early life struggles and their impact on his music.[2]
Military service
Smith served in the Canadian Army with the Royal Canadian Artillery’s 4th Artillery Regiment (General Support), based at CFB Gagetown.[3] He participated in domestic operations under Operation LENTUS, including the 2017 New Brunswick ice storm,[4] the 2019 New Brunswick floods,[5] and during Hurricane Dorian in Nova Scotia.[6]
Music career
LUCID J began releasing music independently in 2019. His 2024 single "Nemesis", featuring Ben Rein, gained attention in North American hip-hop media. *Hot 97* included it in their editorial roundup,.[1]
