Early life

Choudhury was born on 19 August 1968 in Cuttack, Odisha. He resides in Cuttack.[3]

Political career

Choudhury began his political involvement with the INC in 1998 as the General Secretary of the District Youth Congress in Bhubaneswar.

In 2004, he contested the Odisha Legislative Assembly election from the Cuttack-Sadar constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate.[4][5] Following this, he served as a member of CAPART (Eastern Zone) under the Ministry of Rural Development from 2004 to 2007, and as a trustee of the Paradip Port Trust from 2010 to 2012.[3]

He has held significant organizational roles within the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), serving as the President of the Bhubaneswar District Congress Committee from 2018 to 2022 and as the President of the Cuttack District Congress Committee from 2022 to 2024.[6] In early 2024, he was appointed to the Odisha Pradesh Election Committee for the general elections.[7]

In June 2024, Choudhury was briefly expelled from the party following internal disagreements with the then-state leadership. However, he contested the action, maintaining that as an AICC member, the state unit's jurisdiction was limited. His position was fully restored in December 2024 following organizational changes within the OPCC.[1] [8][9][10][11][12]

In July 2025, an FIR was filed against Choudhury and 25 others following a protest.[13][14]

Business and public life

Choudhury is the managing director of K1 Security, a private security company. He served as a director of the Urban Cooperative Bank in Bhubaneswar from 2002 to 2008.[15]
