Career
As an illusionist, Casellato is noted for his immersive, story-approach that explores the art of illusion through the combined lenses of cinema, literature, and history.[2]
He has lectured twice at the Monte-Carlo Magic Stars (or, "Grand Prix of Magic," of which he is a member)[2]. Beyond his solo lectures and writing, Casellato works as an Effects Designer (also known as an "FX designer") in stage performances.[2]
He produced, directed, and presented the docu-series ("The Other Side of Magic"). The first episode was about Howard Thurston.[1][3] The second episode explored the work of Harry Houdini,[4] whose career Casellato explores in his book L’altra metà della magia[1]. The series and the book both look at Thurston Houdini in the scope of the history and evolution of magic as an art form.[1]
Casellato's contributions to magic history have been cited in trade journals, including the Bibliotecha (library) section Magia (La Rivista Italiana Cultura Magica), which referenced L’altra metà della magia in 2019.[5] Magia magazine was founded by Massimo Polidoro for the Italian Committee for the Investigation of Claims on Pseudosciences (CICAP)[6] and serves as a primary source for magical history and theory.
Most notably in recent years, he authored Woody Allen: Un Mago a Manhattan, published in 2024. This book, Casellato's third, explores the concept and execution of magic in Allen's films and it is translated in English as A Magician In Manhattan: Cinema and the Art of Wonder.[7]
