Melissa Chan-Green is a New Zealand journalist and television presenter. She has worked for Newshub as a reporter, foreign correspondent and news presenter, and later as a co-host of the morning programme AM. She has also worked as a presenter for Radio New Zealand.

Career

Early career

Chan-Green began her television career in 2004 on TVNZ's Breakfast programme.[1] She joined TV3 in 2007 as a reporter and newsreader.[1]

Foreign correspondent

In 2011, she was appointed Europe correspondent for TV3, based in London.[1] In this role, she reported on a range of international events, including the Arab Spring uprisings and the 2015 Paris terror attacks.[1] She also covered the death and funeral of Nelson Mandela, as well as major international sporting events including the Olympic Games and Rugby World Cups.[1]

Return to New Zealand

Chan-Green returned to New Zealand in 2016 and joined Newshub Live at 6pm as a reporter and news presenter.[1]

She later became co-host of Three’s breakfast programme AM.[2]

Later work

Chan-Green remained a presenter on AM until 2024, when Newshub ceased operations.[3]

Following this, she undertook broadcasting and media work including contributions to Radio New Zealand and education-focused media projects.[4]

  • Reporting Diversity Award (2009)[1]

Personal life

Chan-Green has spoken in interviews about experiencing an abusive relationship earlier in her life.[5]
