The series was originally developed and released under the title Impossible Repairs before being rebranded as How Did They Fix That? in subsequent seasons.[2][3] The program is produced for the Smithsonian Channel and distributed internationally, including on Paramount+ and other platforms.[4]
The series explores major engineering and infrastructure projects around the world, including transportation systems, industrial machinery, and large-scale repair operations.[5] It premiered in 2021 and has continued through multiple seasons, with a fifth season in production as of 2026.[6]
