Mike Rivers (American Football)

Mike Rivers (born March, 22nd, 2000) is an American professional football punter for the Houston Gamblers of the United Football League (UFL). He played college football for the North Carolina A&T Aggies & Troy Trojans.

Rivers led the 2025 UFL season in punting yards (2,019 yards across 42 punts) in 10 games.[1] As well, led the Houston Roughnecks to have the highest punt average (48.1) across any team in the 2025 UFL season.[2]

Early Life

Rivers grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, where his development as a punter began at a young age under the guidance of his father, Mike Rivers Sr.

Rivers attended North Brunswick High School (North Carolina). During his time there he earned Mid-Eastern Conference First Team All-Conference honors[3] and was also recognized as an All-Area offensive and defensive.

During Rivers' high school years, his father created a unique training environment at home by taping sections of the kitchen floor to simulate the steps of a punting approach.

College Career

Rivers was a three year starter punter for the North Carolina A&T Aggies & a one year stater, in his final season, for the Troy Trojans. He finished his collegiate career with 8,823 punting yards and averaged 40.7 yards per punt. In 2019, Rivers was awarded second-team All-MEAC.[4]
