Early life and career
Fenix developed an interest in music at an early age. At 13 (around 2010), she began writing original songs and uploading performance videos to YouTube. Her mature musical style at the time earned her the nickname "Little Rocker" within the local music community.
She gained significant attention in the Philippine indie music scene following the release of her debut EP, Mind Games, in 2014 and her subsequent performance on the Wish 107.5 Bus.
In March 2014, while still a student, Fenix released her first EP titled Mind Games. The project explored various emotional dimensions, with its lead single, "Locked Up," written as a reflection on personal secrets. Her music during this era was heavily influenced by elements of jazz, blues, and alternative rock.
After a brief hiatus, Fenix released the single "Two Feet In" in 2023. This release marked a significant turning point in her career after her performance on the Wish Bus showcasing the song went viral, proving her vocal stability in a live setting.[2][3]
In November 2025, she released "Take Me Home," a neo-soul track inspired by the choral vocal style found in Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise." The song received critical praise for its "swabe" (relaxed groove) production and smooth vocal delivery.
Musical style
Mix Fenix's vocals are often described as "silk-smooth." While listeners frequently compare her to artists such as Adele or Norah Jones, Fenix has stated that she prefers to keep her music "raw" and honest rather than following mainstream trends. Her work typically blends soul, blues, and R&B elements.
