Mon Rovia (born Janjay Lowe), sometimes stylized as Mon Rovîa, is a Liberian-born indie folk and indie pop musician.[1] Born in Monrovia, Liberia, during the First Liberian Civil War, he was later adopted and relocated to the United States.[2] His music blends West African influences with American folk traditions, a style he has described as "Afro-Appalachian".[3]

Early life

Mon Rovîa was born in Monrovia, Liberia, during the First Liberian Civil War.[4] At the age of seven, he was adopted by Christian missionaries and moved to the United States.[5] He later lived in several locations including Florida, Montana, the Bahamas, and Tennessee.[6][7]

Career

Mon Rovîa began releasing music in 2020, including the EP Sunburnt.[8] His music gained attention on platforms such as TikTok, contributing to a growing audience.[9]

He later developed his sound through a series of releases and live performances, including touring activity in 2026 in support of new material.[10]
