Nick Ndeda
Nick Ndeda is a Kenyan actor, writer, and broadcast host known for his work across film, television, theatre, and radio in East Africa. He has appeared in critically acclaimed films and series including 18 Hours, Midnight Van, and Second Family, and has hosted popular radio and TV programmes such as The Great Kenyan Bake Off and The Breakfast Club. Ndeda has also written and produced projects addressing social and cultural issues, earning recognition at national and international awards.[1]
Career
Film and television
Ndeda has worked in Kenyan and international film and television productions since the early 2010s. According to his filmography on IMDb, he has appeared in multiple roles in films and television series over the last decade.[2]
In 2017, he played a lead role in the feature film 18 Hours, which received nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.[3]
In 2023, Ndeda wrote, produced, and starred in the short film Midnight Van, a drama addressing social and historical themes. The film screened at several regional and international film festivals, including the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) and the Kalasha International Film Festival, where it received awards for storytelling.[4][5]
He also acted in the telenovela Second Family which streams on Showmax.[6]
Radio and television hosting
Ndeda began his radio career at Homeboyz Radio before moving to Hot 96, later joining XFM in 2012 where he hosted for seven years.[7][8]
He later hosted The Kiss Drive on Kiss FM and other programmes under the Radio Africa Group brand, before joining Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s English Service to host The Breakfast Club, a long‑form current affairs and interview programme featuring public figures and industry professionals.[9][10]
Writing and production
In addition to acting, Ndeda has worked as a writer and producer. He created and contributed to various media projects, including the audio series Rona Inakupelekeje?, which focused on public health themes during the COVID‑19 pandemic and was commissioned in partnership with community organisations.[11]
Awards and recognition
Ndeda has received recognition for his work across film, television, and broadcasting. He won the Best TV Host award at the Kalasha TV & Film Awards for his role hosting The Great Kenyan Bake Off, a Kenyan adaptation of a popular baking competition format.[12]
