Early life and education

Nivedha RM graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering.[3] During her academic years, she participated in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and various engineering competitions focused on waste-to-wealth research.[4]

Career

Nivedha RM founded TrashCon in 2017, a company specializing in decentralized solid waste solutions. The company's primary focus is automated segregation at the source to reduce landfill dependency.[5] By 2024, TrashCon was reported to be processing approximately 500 tons of waste per day across several Indian states.[6]

Technology and innovation

TrashCon developed the Trashbot, an automated machine designed to segregate mixed municipal solid waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable streams. The technology reportedly removes metal fractions and separates non-recyclable plastic scrap and food waste with minimal human intervention.[7] In 2025, she delivered a plenary address at the 5th World Waste-to-Wealth Summit regarding net-zero pathways and circular economy value chains.[8]

In 2021, the company expanded its operations into materials manufacturing through an initiative called WoWMaterials. This venture converts non-recyclable plastic waste into durable boards and shuttering materials for the construction industry.[9][10]

Recognition

Nivedha RM is an Agenda Contributor to the World Economic Forum (WEF) and was featured in the WEF film Back to Zero, which examined sustainability-led innovations.[11] Her work has been recognized by international organizations including the World Bank and the Red Cross.[12]
