Comment: Notability is based on sustained independent secondary coverage of the platform and its operator's 2026 pivot to blockchain gaming — in particular the approximately ₩62.6 billion acquisition of One Store, reported in depth by multiple Korean business outlets (The Elec, Seoul Economic Daily, Bloter), and independent analysis of the company's strategy in trade and business press (GameTok, The Korea Economic Daily). Routine product-launch items are cited only for supplementary factual detail, not for notability. History
CROSS era (2025–2026)
Nexus, formerly known as Action Square, refocused its business on blockchain gaming under Henry Chang (Jang Hyun-guk), the founder of the CROSS project and a former chief executive of Wemade who had overseen the development of its WEMIX blockchain network.[1][5] During 2025 the company developed the CROSS Protocol, described as an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain for games, with fungible- and non-fungible-token transactions handled through a component called CROSSx.[6] Oversight of the protocol was assigned to the Opengame Foundation, a non-profit organization established in Zug, Switzerland.[1]
In March 2026 Nexus made its first appearance at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), presenting under the slogan "CROSS, the gamechain" and announcing partnerships with the Blockchain Game Alliance, WolvesDAO and Merso.[7] At the event the company also introduced AgentVerse, an ecosystem for AI agents operating on the blockchain.[7]
Rebranding to ONE (2026)
On June 18, 2026, Nexus announced that its board of directors had approved the acquisition of an approximately 89 percent stake in One Store, a South Korean app marketplace, for about ₩62.6 billion (roughly US$45 million).[3][8] The sellers—among them SK Square, Naver and Krafton—became investors in Nexus as part of the transaction, and the companies said One Store's existing partnerships would be maintained.[3][9] One Store had been installed on more than 38 million devices in South Korea.[4]
As part of the deal, Nexus announced that the CROSS platform would be renamed ONE, with its mainnet rebranded from CROSS Mainnet to OneChain and its native token changed from $CROSS to $ONE, in order to bring the app-distribution business and the blockchain platform under a single brand.[3][4] The company said it planned to launch a global, blockchain-enabled version of One Store integrating wallet, stablecoin, decentralized exchange, token-swap, staking and bridge functions.[4] Nexus reported a sharp rise in revenue in 2025, which it attributed to development and operation services for CROSS-based projects.[2]
Platform
The platform comprises a blockchain mainnet (OneChain), a cryptocurrency wallet, a decentralized exchange, a settlement stablecoin and developer tools such as SDKs and APIs.[6][10] Additional services developed during the CROSS era include a web-based storefront system, a payment service, a streamer engagement platform and a quest-and-reward platform, which the company has said it intends to integrate into One Store.[4] According to the company, games onboarded to the platform apply token economies in which in-game currencies can be converted into on-chain tokens usable within the wider ecosystem.[6]
Games
During the CROSS era, titles onboarded to the platform included the collectible strategy RPGs Throne of Chaos and Myth Legends.[11][12]
In July 2026 Nexus announced a nine-game lineup to be onboarded under the ONE brand, consisting largely of MMORPGs based on existing Korean game intellectual properties alongside newer titles, some incorporating AI-generated content. The announced games were Rappelz M, Astellia M, Metin: Prelude to Ruin, Tree of Savior M, Frost Kingdom, Elemental, Gemini Seed, Canonization of the Gods and Chronicles of the Celestial Way.[13][14][15]
