The company developed platforms for monitoring and remotely controlling energy consumption in buildings and electrical infrastructures.

In 2025, part of the company’s business was acquired by the Italian Fervo Group as part of a restructuring process.[2]

History

Over S.p.A. was founded in Rome in September 2012 by Adriano Cerocchi together with researchers from Sapienza University of Rome, including Roberto Baldoni, Leonardo Querzoni and Massimo Mecella.[3]

The company originated from research on distributed systems and smart environments, aiming to develop technologies capable of monitoring energy consumption at a granular level.[4]

According to Italian media, the system allowed remote monitoring and control of individual electrical outlets and connected devices.[5]

In its early years, the company received support from the FILAS regional program (now Lazio Innova) and later secured venture capital funding of approximately €1 million.[6]

Activities

Initially, the company offered three product lines:

  • atHome (residential market)
  • forBusiness (commercial buildings)
  • superComputing (data centers and IT infrastructure)

From the mid-2010s onward, it focused primarily on B2B solutions.

Its technologies were adopted in the Italian banking sector, initially within UBI Banca and later by other institutions.[7][8]

Technology

The platform consisted of hardware and software systems for monitoring and optimizing energy consumption.

Main components included:

  • OBox, an IoT gateway for data collection and cloud communication
  • OMeter, a single-phase measurement and control device
  • NanOMeter, a three-phase system for higher-power installations
  • OSensor, an environmental sensor for indoor air quality

Research during COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company developed a technology known as Crossfield for indoor air purification.[9][10]

Crisis and acquisition

In 2024, the company entered insolvency-related proceedings following financial difficulties.[11]

In January 2025, part of the company was acquired by Fervo Group through its subsidiary Omnireal.[12]
