Pablo Antonio y La Firma was founded in 1998 by Pablo Antonio Zelaya, a vocalist originally from El Salvador who immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. Zelaya began performing at age 10 and accumulated extensive stage experience before establishing the band. The group began performing publicly in 1999 and has maintained a continuous presence in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia region since its founding.

The band was co-founded alongside Hermes Argueta Jr. and Dominique Patrick Noel. The group recorded with Puerto Rican artist Freddie Méndez in Puerto Rico.

Pablo Antonio y La Firma performs tropical Latin music, with a repertoire centered on merengue, cumbia and salsa. The band performs entirely with live instrumentation — vocalists, saxophones, trumpets, keyboards, bass, timbales, congas and percussion — without the use of pre-recorded tracks or backing tracks. The ensemble maintains a consistent 12-musician format.

The band has performed at significant venues and events in the Washington metropolitan area and beyond:

• 2004 — Listed in The Washington Post as performing a salsa and merengue concert at Kingstowne Town Center in Franconia, Virginia.^[1]

• 2009 — Performed at the Latino Inaugural Celebration Ball at the Organization of American States World Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on the inauguration night of President Barack Obama, alongside television host Don Francisco, journalist Geraldo Rivera and former U.S. Secretary of Housing Henry Cisneros.

• 2011 — Performed at Grist Mill Park in Mount Vernon, Virginia, as documented by Patch.com.^[2]

• 2013 — Performed at the Caucus Salvadoreño Empresarial Legacy of Achievements Gala at The Mayflower Hotel, Washington, D.C., alongside then-D.C. Councilmember Muriel Bowser and Congressman Chris Van Hollen.

• 2017 — Performed at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester, Virginia. The performance was covered by The Winchester Star.^[3]

• 2022 — Performed at the Portside in Old Town Summer Festival in Alexandria, Virginia, organized by Visit Alexandria and the City of Alexandria's Office of the Arts. The performance was covered by ALXnow.^[4]

The band has performed at several prominent venues in the Washington metropolitan area, including the Historic Lincoln Theatre, the Grand Hyatt Washington, The Mayflower Hotel, the Sofitel Lafayette Square, the Howard Theatre and Maryland Live Casino. The band has also performed at EagleBank Arena and at the Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn, New York.

Pablo Antonio y La Firma has shared the stage with several internationally recognized Latin artists, including Lalo Rodríguez, Andy Montañez, Milly Quezada, Tito Nieves and La Sonora Dinámita. The band recorded with Puerto Rican artist Freddie Méndez.
