History

Pattern was founded in 2013 by entrepreneurs David Wright and Melanie Alder as iServe, a third‑party Amazon seller of health‑and‑beauty products, operating out of Alder's living room. Seeking to expand into analytics and full‑service marketplace trading, the company rebranded to Pattern in March 2018.

In 2020, Pattern raised US$52 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Ainge Advisory and KSV Global.[3] The company followed with a US$225 million Series B round in September 2021, led by Knox Lane Investments, and hit double unicorn status with a $2B valuation.[4]

Between 2022 and 2024 Pattern expanded to 18 offices worldwide, including London, Dubai, São Paulo, Shanghai and Melbourne. Notable acquisitions include the digital‑asset‑management vendor Amplifi.io in February 2023,[5] and the influencer marketing platform Current in August 2024.[6]

Products

Pattern acts as an intermediary between brands and marketplaces, reselling goods as an exclusive partner for brands rather than owning the brands or products themselves. [7] Pattern uses a global network of warehouses to ship brand products to ecommerce marketplaces like Amazon. [8]
