Peringuzha is a village near Muvattupuzha in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. It is part of the Arakuzha panchayat in Muvattupuzha taluk. The village has a mixed community of Christians, Hindus, and Muslims, and the main languages spoken are Malayalam and English.

Geography and location
Peringuzha is located approximately 5 km from Muvattupuzha town. Nearby villages and localities include Perumballoor, Anikkad, Vazhappilly, Avoly, Arakuzha, and Kizhakkekara. The village lies along the banks of the Muvattupuzha River, a major river system in the area.[1]
Administration
Peringuzha belongs to the Arakuzha panchayat within the Muvattupuzha taluk of Ernakulam district. Local governance is carried out under the Panchayati Raj system.
Demographics
According to the 2011 Census, Peringuzha has a population of 1,176.[2] The population comprises Christians, Hindus, and Muslims. The official languages spoken are Malayalam and English.
Education
Peringuzha has one major educational institution within the village:
- St. Joseph’s Upper Primary School, Peringuzha – A government-aided school established in 1916–1917, offering classes from Grades 1 to 7 in Malayalam.[3]
Places of worship
- St. Joseph's Pilgrim Church – A historic Syro-Malabar Catholic church founded in 1864, and the first church in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Kothamangalam named after St. Joseph. It is recognized as a major pilgrimage centre, featuring seven statues representing the “Seven Anxieties” of St. Joseph.[4][5]
- Peringazhakavu Bhagavathy Kshethram – A Hindu temple in the village.[6]
- Ullappilly Jum'a Masjid – A mosque serving the local Muslim community.[7]
