Peter Sung


Peter Sung (born August 6, 1973) is a South Korea–born American executive coach, psychologist, author, and former church planter and denominational leader. [1] He is the founder of Securebase, a coaching, consulting, and speaking organization. Sung works with leaders and organizations across the United States, specializing in leadership effectiveness, organizational health, and applied psychology.

Early life and education

Peter Sung was born in Seoul, South Korea, on August 6, 1973. He immigrated to the United States with his family on August 16, 1981, and was raised in New York City. He attended Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

Sung earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, with a concentration in Shakespeare, from the University of Michigan. He later received a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Education in Performance and Organizational Psychology from the University of Western States. He is also a certified Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation.[1]

Career

Sung began his career in ministry as a church planter and later served as a denominational executive. His work in these roles focused on leadership development, organizational strategy, and church health.

He subsequently transitioned into executive coaching and consulting, working with leaders and organizations across a range of sectors. Sung is known for integrating psychological research, systems theory, and leadership practice in his work. He frequently travels to work on-site with clients, emphasizing contextualized insight and relational engagement.

Sung is the founder of Securebase, a coaching, consulting, and speaking organization. Through Securebase, he provides advisory services to leaders and organizations, particularly those navigating transition, complexity, or organizational challenges.
