Purushan (transl. Husband) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Sundar C starring Vishal and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The film marks Sundar C's fourth collaboration with Vishal and third with Tamannaah after Action and Aranmanai 4 (2024). The film is jointly produced by Khushbu Sundar, A. C. Shanmugam and A. C. S. Arun Kumar under their Avni Cinemax and Benzz Media (P) Ltd banners respectively. The technical team consists of music composer Hiphop Tamizha, cinematographer Gopi Amarnath and editor Roger.

Development
After Gangers (2025), Sundar C was reported to reunite with Rajinikanth after Arunachalam (1997), for a new film.[1] Rajinikanth announced that he had signed his 173rd film with Kamal Haasan's production company, Raaj Kamal Films International, which would be distributed by Red Giant Movies.[2] On 5 November 2025, Sundar was officially announced as the director, also reuniting with Haasan after Anbe Sivam (2003).[3] Soon after a week, on 13 November, Sundar announced his exit from the project, citing "unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances".[4] Previously in mid-October 2025, Vishal had announced to reunite with Sundar for a film produced by Benzz Media,[5] which was later confirmed on 3 November 2025.[6] Marking Vishal's 36th film in the lead role, the film was tentatively titled Vishal 36.[7] On 21 January 2026, Vishal and Tamannaah were announced to play the role of a husband and wife, reuniting with Sundar for an action entertainer film.[8] Apart from them, the film also features Yogi Babu in an important role.[9] The film's title Purushan was revealed through a five-minute forty-one-second long glimpse video on 21 January 2026.[10]
Purushan marks Sundar C's fourth collaboration with Vishal after Aambala (2015), Action (2019) and Madha Gaja Raja (2025)[11] and third with Tamannaah after Action and Aranmanai 4 (2024).[12] The film is produced by A. C. S. Arun Kumar under the Benzz Media (P) Ltd banner, along with Khushbu Sundar from Avni Cinemax.[13] The screenplay and dialogues are written by Venkatt Ragavan.[14]

Principal photography began on 23 January 2026 after a formal muhurat pooja ceremony.[15]
