Raised in Ohio, United States, Mickley first ministered in Auckland, New Zealand before settling in the Philippines.
Mickley remained in the Philippines in his later years and died on 14 February 2023, at his residence in Cavite City.
Early life
Mickley was born in the United States on 12 November 1928.[1][2] He was the eldest of ten children born to Raymond and Clara Mickley. Growing up on a farm in Danville, Ohio, his childhood was characterized by daily agricultural chores such as milking the family cow from the first grade through eight grade. His family later relocated to New London, a village where his father operated a food store.[2]
Seminary education
At the fifth grade, Mickley had learned Latin prayers and became an altar server. Following a move to Louisville, Ohio, and after consulting with his parents and local pastor, the 13-year-old Mickley entered Brunnerdale Seminary—the minor seminary of the Society of the Precious Blood in Canton.[2]
