Sakuya (Japanese: 咲哉 藤永, Hepburn: Sakuya Fujinaga; born November 18, 2007)[1] is a Japanese singer, known mononymously as Sakuya. He is a member of the male idol group NCT and its sub-unit NCT Wish, under SM Entertainment. He was born in Ishikawa Prefecture[2]. He debuted in February 2024 and is the youngest member of NCT.

Early life

He was born on November 18, 2007, in Ishikawa Prefecture, at the age of eight, he moved to Saitama. Influenced by his parents, who were fans of K-pop, he developed an admiration for K-pop artists[3][4]. In 2022, he joined SM Entertainment as a trainee through an online audition. His trainee period lasted approximately one year[5].

On July 14, 2023, his visuals were revealed as a trainee appearing on the pre-debut reality program NCT Universe: LASTART[6]. Beginning on July 26, he appeared on the show as an SM Entertainment trainee. On September 7, 2023, it was announced through NCT Universe: LASTART that he would debut as a member of the group NCT New Team (tentative)[a][7]. On October 8, 2023, the group released their pre-debut digital single "Hands Up" under the name NCT New Team[8]. On January 18, 2024, the group name was officially announced as NCT Wish[9]. On February 21, they performed their debut song "WISH" at SMTOWN LIVE 2024 SMCU PALACE @TOKYO held at Tokyo Dome, marking their official debut as NCT WISH[10].
