Satyendra Chandra Guria (died 24 April 2010) was an Indian politician, journalist, and administrator. He served as a Member of Parliament in the Eighth Lok Sabha representing the Nainital constituency (then in Uttar Pradesh, now in Uttarakhand) from 1984 to 1989.[1] Prior to his parliamentary tenure, Guria was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1980 to 1984.[2]

Early life and career
Guria did his schooling from Udayraj Hindu inter college Kashipur.
Guria began his professional career as a journalist. He served as President of the District Journalists Association in Kashipur and was the long-serving editor of the Hindi weekly newspaper Loktantra for over thirty years.[3]
Political career
Guria’s political career included membership in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1980 to 1984. He was later elected to the Eighth Lok Sabha in 1984. During his political career, he served as Deputy Minister for Sugarcane, Irrigation and Industry in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. After the formation of Uttarakhand he held Cabinet rank ministerial position from 2004 to 2007[4]

In addition to his political work, Guria held leadership positions in various institutions, including:
- Director of Kumaon Vikas Nigam, Nainital
- Member of administrative boards for Pantnagar University, Kumaon University, and Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan.[5]
Death and legacy
Guria died on 24 April 2010 at the age of 77.[6] Several educational institutions in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, are named after him, including Satyendra Chandra Guria Law College and Satyendra Chandra Guria Institute of Management & Technology.[7] Birth anniversaries and commemorative events are held annually in his honor.[8]
