The Scharfe Barte is one of the most famous and oldest German comedy awards which is given since 1995 every year, hosted by the city of Melsungen (Hesse). The audience awards the award "Scharfe Barte" and the jury awards three jury awards. Ocasionally there is also a newcomer award. Several award winners later won other awards in German comedy and Kabarett.

During the Covid-19 pandemic the award paused for some years. Probably there will be another competition in the city of Melsungen.[1]
