SCP: Gallionic anime From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SCP: Gallionic

SCP: Gallionic (often stylized as SCP:GALLIONIC) is an upcoming independent animated science fiction short film set within the collaborative fiction universe of the SCP Foundation.[1] Produced by the independent animation team SOEM Studios, the film explores the events of a catastrophic anomaly containment breach at a Foundation facility from the dual perspectives of two siblings[1]. Following a highly successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in early 2026, the project was expanded into a 20-minute short film.[2]

Premise

SCP: Gallionic is set in the SCP Foundation universe, a secret organization dedicated to containing anomalous entities and phenomena. The plot centers on Site-19-2, a facility experiencing increasingly frequent containment breaches[1]. Jane Vestergaard, a young Foundation researcher, attempts to warn management about the impending disaster due to containment protocol violations, but her warnings are ignored[1].[3]

The narrative alternates between Jane's perspective leading up to the disaster and the aftermath experienced by her brother, Matthew[1]. An accountant working on the outskirts of the facility, Matthew is entirely unaware of the anomalous horrors contained within[1]. Following the catastrophic breach, he ventures into the overrun laboratory corridors in a desperate attempt to rescue his sister[1][3].

According to the creators, the short film heavily explores themes of control—both over one's environment and one's own decisions[1][3]. While the film features numerous anomalous entities drawn from the SCP Wiki's lore, the narrative is designed to be accessible to audiences entirely unfamiliar with the SCP universe[1][3].

Production

Background and SOEM Studios

SCP: Gallionic is the flagship project of SOEM Studios, an independent animation studio founded by Brando Leon Rustici ("Rando") and Mikey Nowack.[4] The duo began their exploration of the SCP universe in May 2023 with the release of SCP - Panic, a 90-second animated short depicting a containment breach featuring popular anomalies such as SCP-173 and SCP-682[4]. Panic served as a proof-of-concept and unofficial prequel to Gallionic, garnering over half a million views on YouTube.

Following the success of SCP - Panic, Rustici and Nowack spent over two years developing a more ambitious narrative project[4]. To achieve a high-quality "indie anime" aesthetic for the project's official trailer, the team collaborated with experienced industry professionals, including animators who had previously worked on major productions for Japanese animation studios such as MAPPA and Toei Animation.[5]

Crowdfunding

To finance the production of the film, SOEM Studios launched a Kickstarter campaign on February 17, 2026[3].[6] The project quickly gained traction within the SCP community, fully funding its initial goal within days[6]. By the end of the campaign in late March 2026, SCP: Gallionic had raised over €280,000 from more than 6,200 backers, making it one of the most successfully crowdfunded SCP-related projects to date[2][7]

The surplus funding allowed the creators to reach multiple stretch goals.[2][6]. These included expanding the runtime to a full 20-minute short film, producing a behind-the-scenes documentary, and securing the production of an official Japanese language dub[5][6]

Licensing

As with all commercial works based on the SCP Foundation, SCP: Gallionic operates under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 3.0 / 4.0) license. Following early discussions from fans regarding proper attribution during the trailer's release, the directors confirmed they were in direct communication with the SCP Wiki's licensing team to ensure full compliance with the site's legal requirements.

Release

The film entered full production following the conclusion of its Kickstarter campaign in March 2026. While a definitive release date has not been officially finalized, the estimated release window for the completed short film is late 2026 to 2027.
