SEON publishes an annual Digital Fraud Outlook Report which surveys financial sector executives on their fraud prevention efforts.[3]

In 2021 SEON received Hungary's largest-ever Series A funding round. After a second funding round in 2022 the company's value surpassed $500 million. CNBC included SEON in its list of the World's Top Fintech Companies in 2025.[4] The company reports it services more than 5,000 organizations[5] and has prevented over $300 billion in losses from fraud for clients.[6] A third funding round in 2025 increased the company's funding total to $187 million.[7]

Founding

CEO Tamás Kádár[3] and COO Bence Jendruszák launched SEON in 2017[8] in Hungary[6] while at university, after finding no adequate fraud prevention solution for their first business, a cryptocurrency exchange.[8]

Growth in early 2020s

In 2021, the company raised €10 million in Hungary's largest-ever Series A funding round,[9] and opened offices in Austin and Jakarta.[10] SEON's fraud prevention app for Shopify merchants[11] also dates from 2021. Deloitte included the company in its "Fast 50 Central Europe" for the year.[12]

In 2022 SEON raised further funding to expand in North America, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.[13] Valued at $500 million,[10] the company became the most well-funded Hungarian startup ever.[1] The Europas Awards named SEON the "hottest cybersecurity startup" for 2022.[14]

In 2023 SEON acquired Complytron, a Hungarian firm specializing in compliance and AML,[14] and SEON's two founders were included in Forbes' 30 Under 30 list for Europe.[15] In 2024 the company's services became more widely available through a partnership with Amazon Web Services.[16]

International and product expansion

In 2025, responding to an increasing client base in the Asia-Pacific region, SEON grew its presence in Indonesia and Singapore.[17] It also announced a partnership with Australian fintech MoneyMe.[18][19]

In 2025, SEON introduced an automated chargeback management system and in May announced a partnership with Chargeflow that integrated chargeback automation into SEON's platform.[20]

In June 2025, SEON introduced an AI-driven AML compliance suite.[21] In September 2025, SEON raised $80 million in a Series C funding round, increasing its total funding to $187 million.[22]

In fall 2025 the company added a suite of further AI capabilities.[23]
