Shalkal (born 6 January 1985)[citation needed] is a Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist and songwriter. He is known for the singles Envious So, Come Money Come, Fi You Money, and Put God First, and for collaborations with other Caribbean artists including Zimbabwean dancehall artist Ninja Lipsy and Ghanaian musician Epixode.

Life and career
Shalkal was born Shakal Carty in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, and grew up in Runaway Bay, where he developed his interest in dancehall and reggae music through local competitions and community performance events.[citation needed]
Shalkal began releasing music in 2019 with the singles Envious So and Come Money Come. He released the single Ungrateful Maga Dog in 2020, a song addressing themes of ingratitude and conflict in personal relationships, which received coverage in Jamaican entertainment media.[1][2] In December 2020, Shalkal was featured in DancehallMag for his commentary on public debates within the dancehall community.[3] In 2021, he released Put God First, a collaboration with Ninja Lipsy, followed by Ghetto Party with Epixode in 2022.[citation needed] His music has been distributed through major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.[citation needed]
