Shiina Okamoto (Japanese: 岡本 椎菜; born 1989) is a Japanese professional poker player. She is a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, having won the $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship in 2024 and 2025. Okamoto is the first player to win the WSOP Ladies Championship in consecutive years and the first Japanese woman to win a WSOP bracelet.[1][2]

Early life and education
Okamoto was born in 1989 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and later relocated to Tokyo.[3] She attended Kyoto University and graduated from the Faculty of Engineering with a degree in architecture, though she did not practise in the field.[3][4][5] After graduation, she worked in sales at a foreign investment bank for approximately ten years, dealing in stocks, bonds and other financial products, before leaving the bank in 2023 to play poker professionally.[3][4]
Poker career
Early career (2019–2023)
Okamoto discovered poker around 2019 through Tokyo board-game communities and progressed through Japan's domestic amusement-poker scene before competing internationally.[3] Her first major title came at the Triton Poker Cup Season 4 Main Event in Japan in 2022. In 2023, she finished runner-up in the WSOP $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship for $118,768, beginning a three-year run at the event's final table.[1][6]
First WSOP bracelet (2024)
In July 2024, Okamoto won her first WSOP bracelet by taking down the $1,000 Ladies Championship, defeating Jamie Kerstetter heads-up to claim a field of 1,245 entries and the $171,732 first prize. The win made her the first Japanese woman to win a WSOP bracelet.[1][7]
Back-to-back title (2025) and EPT Barcelona
At the 2025 WSOP, Okamoto returned to the Ladies Championship, which drew a record 1,368 entries. She defeated Heather Alcorn heads-up to claim her second consecutive bracelet and the $184,094 first prize, becoming the first player in the event's history to win in consecutive years and the fourth player overall to win the Ladies Championship more than once.[1][2]
In August 2025, Okamoto won the Women's Event at the EPT Barcelona festival, defeating a 126-entry field for €15,510 and her first PokerStars spade trophy.[8][9][10] Later in the year she also won the Taiwan Millions High Roller.[7]
In early 2026, Okamoto finished 37th of 2,617 entries in the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in Prague for €40,000.[4]
Playing style and sponsorships
Okamoto plays a game-theory-optimal (GTO) influenced, study-driven style, with hand review and range analysis at the core of her preparation.[4] In August 2025, she was announced as a Team Pro for the poker training platform GTO Wizard, joining a roster that includes Phil Galfond and Daniel Cates.[11] She is also an official partner of the Japan Open Poker Tour (JOPT).[3]
