History
Snapper Services was founded in 2006 by Infratil, a New Zealand infrastructure investment company. In 2008, the company launched the Snapper smart card in Wellington, enabling contactless payments for public transport and small-value retail transactions.[1]
In 2019, Snapper Services was acquired by ICM Mobility Group, a European mobility technology investor.[2] Following the acquisition by ICM Mobility Group in 2019, Snapper Services expanded its international operations, including establishing headquarters in Belfast, United Kingdom, and employing more than 80 staff across engineering, product, and customer-facing roles.[3][4]

Snapper ticketing
The Snapper card is a contactless electronic ticketing card used to pay for bus and train fares in Wellington, New Zealand.[1] The platform functions as a stored-value transport card, similar to London’s Oyster card, allowing users to load credit for fares and access account-based features such as mobile top-ups and customer self-service.[5][6]
The system was among the early implementations of small-value, contactless smart‑card ticketing for public transport in New Zealand, first introduced in Wellington in 2008.[7][8]
Mosaiq Transit Intelligence Suite
