History
Space4Autism was founded in 2005 as a Autism support group, the idea for Space4Autism came about after one the charity's co-founders Cheryl Jane Simpson could not find Autism support in her local area.[1]
Space4Autism was first based out of a local Macclesfield pub.[1]
In 2014 Space4Austim moved into a new premise on Lowe Street in Macclesfield ahead of the 9th anniversary of its founding.[5]
in 2017 Space4Autism moved into its current premise on Mill Street in Macclesfield.[1]
Space4Autism's co-founder and CEO Cheryl Jane Simpson received a MBE in the 2021 New Year Honours for "services to the community and to Autism".[2]
In 2024 due to financial pressures a crowdfunder was started in order to help keep Space4Autism open.[1]
In 2025 Space4Autism opened its "Launchpad" shop with the aim of helping Adults with Autism into finding employment.[6]
