History
TEC was founded in 1982 under the name SpanTran Educational Consultancy Services, and awarded NACES member status in April 1996.[3][7]
The 'The Evaluation Company' name was formally adopted in July 2024 as part of a rebranding campaign.
In March 2026, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approved TEC as a credentialing organization for certain health care workers for immigration purposes.[8] TEC subsequently announced its 'VisaKey' service, offering health care worker certification under the USCIS approval.[9]
TEC's chief legal and compliance officer, Mukul Bakhshi, was appointed to the role in March 2025.[10]
Services
TEC provides several forms of academic credential evaluation. General Analysis evaluations are document-by-document reports that state the U.S. educational equivalency of foreign academic study without recalculating credits or grades, while Course Analysis evaluations are course-by-course evaluations that include individual courses, grades, credit values, and grade point average calculations.[3] Several U.S. colleges and universities list The Evaluation Company, TEC, or SpanTran among accepted or recommended foreign credential evaluators.[11][12][13][14][15]
TEC also provides professional licensure evaluations[4], document verification, and certified translation services. Licensure evaluations commonly provided are within the fields of nursing, engineering, teaching, and architecture.
