Spiekeroog II is a German passenger ferry operated by Nordseebad Spiekeroog GmbH on the route between Neuharlingersiel on the mainland coast of Lower Saxony and the East Frisian island of Spiekeroog. History
Spiekeroog II was completed in 1997 for Nordseebad Spiekeroog GmbH, the municipal company responsible for ferry transport to the island.[2] The vessel was introduced to complement the existing ferry capacity and to modernise the connection between the mainland and Spiekeroog.
Like other vessels in the fleet, it is designed for operation in the Wadden Sea, where tidal conditions and shallow waters require specialised hull design and manoeuvrability.[2]
The ferry operates from its home port of Spiekeroog, with regular departures from Neuharlingersiel. It forms part of the essential transport infrastructure supplying the car-free island.
