Career
Originally a county player in the North East[3], Raw became one of the earliest members of the newly-formed Professional Darts Corporation (then WDC) in 1994, playing in the inaugural World Matchplay and losing in the first round to eventual champion Larry Butler.[4][5]. Noted for his strange throwing action[6], Raw would become a mainstay of early PDC events thereafter, playing in seven World Matchplays and six PDC World Darts Championships until 2001 (his first World Championship appearance coming as a replacement for Jocky Wilson)[7], with his best result in both tournaments being reaching the last sixteen.
His most notable performance in a PDC television event came in the 1996 PDC World Pairs tournament, where he reached the final in conjunction with Chris Mason, finishing runner-up to Phil Taylor and Bob Anderson.[8]
Raw left the professional dart scene in 2001 after deciding not to return from a trip he had taken to the United States with fellow dart player Shayne Burgess, and he still resides in America to this day.[9]
