Sundet Seitov (kaz: Сүндет Мұратбекұлы Сейітов; born October 3, 1998, Chinaz District, Tashkent Region, Uzbekistan) is a Kazakh poet, writer, and translator. He is a member of the Authors Guild and the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan.

Seitov is a laureate of international and national literary competitions. In 2017, he was awarded a letter of appreciation by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY).

Biography

Sundet Seitov was born on October 3, 1998, in Chinaz District, Tashkent Region, Uzbekistan.[1]

In 2005, he began his education at Secondary School named after Amangeldy Imanov in Chinaz District. In 2007, he moved to Shymkent, Kazakhstan. From 2007 to 2008, he studied at Secondary School named after Ibrai Altynsarin in Keles District.[2]

From 2008 to 2010, Seitov attended Secondary School No. 83 in Shymkent. Between 2011 and 2014, he studied at the Batyrbek Otep Specialized Boarding School for Gifted Children "Oner" in Shymkent.[3]

From 2014 to 2017, he studied at Parassat College named after Mukhtar Saparbayeva. From 2017 to 2022, he studied at the Central Asian Innovation University, Faculty of Pedagogy, Department of Philology.[4]

In 2018, Seitov became the winner of the national literary competition Men jastarğa senemin and received a grant from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.[5]

He currently resides in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

Literary career

Sundet Seitov works in the genres of poetry, prose, and literary translation. He is a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan and the American professional organization Authors Guild. His works have been published in Kazakh, English, Russian and Turkish.

Seitov is the author of several poetry collections. His first collection, Täube, was published in Almaty in 2017. This was followed by Märiya (Shymkent, 2019) and Ikigai (Almaty, 2021).[6] In 2022, his poetry collection Umıtpas was published in Almaty by Mazmundama Publishing.[7]

In 2025, Seitov published several English-language books, including Drone Show, I Want to Be a Woman, Mourning Day Fireworks, and The Story of a Refugee Heart. In 2026, his Russian-language poetry collection Zhestokiy maneken was published. The same year, his Turkish-language poetry collection Unutmabeni was also released.

Seitov has translated ghazals of Muhammad Shaybani from the Chagatai language, as well as the divans of Hafiz Khwarazmi and Furqat.[8]

In addition, he produced a Kazakh adaptation of the play Leading Ladies by Ken Ludwig.

Professional career

From 2015 to 2016, Seitov worked as a correspondent for the national newspaper El birligi.

Since 2016, he has served as chairman of the literary and creative center Sham.[9]

From 2017 to 2018, he worked as a correspondent for the national literary journal Qazyghurt.

In 2018, he worked at the Youth Resource Center under the Department for Family, Children and Youth Affairs of Shymkent.

From 2019 to 2020, Seitov served as press secretary of the Department of Employment and Social Protection of Shymkent under the Akimat of Shymkent.[10]

From 2021 to 2023, he worked as an editor at the Qazaq University publishing house of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

From 2021 to 2022, he also worked as an editor at the Al-Farabi City Scientific Universal Library in Shymkent.

From 2023 to 2024, he worked at the Shymkent City Youth Library.

Since 2024, he has worked at the A. S. Pushkin City Universal Library in Shymkent.

In 2021, Seitov became a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan.

In 2025, he became a member of the Authors Guild, a professional organization of writers headquartered in New York City.

Personal life

Seitov is married to Aigerim Turar, a dentist.

His father, Muratbek Baizakov (born 1963), is a horticulturist. His mother, Zhanat Shotybaykyzy Serikbayeva (1964–2019), was a physician.

His brother, Atabek Seitov, is an artist at the Shymkent City Youth Theatre.

Seitov resides in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.
