"The Summer Place" is a song by American rock band Fountains of Wayne. It was released on August 2, 2011, as the third and final single from their fifth studio album, Sky Full of Holes.[1] Written and produced by Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger, the song peaked at number 79 on the Japan Hot 100.

Composition
"The Summer Place" was written and produced by Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger.[2] Behind the meaning of the song, Schlesinger stated it is about "a house that belonged to a family for a long time, and has both good and not-so-good childhood memories associated with it for the main character."[3]
Critical reception
The Huffington Post wrote, "Typically, they're less flashy, but consistent, as is the case on 'The Summer Place'. As usual, it satisfies, in that power-pop-y kind of way."[1]
