The Sunshine Murders is a UK, Cypriot and New Zealand cosy crime, comedy television series . With production helmed by showrunner, co-writer and actress, Emily Corcoran. Two half-sisters, a New Zealand farmer and an Athens detective, team up to solve crimes while searching for their father. Shirley's rural wisdom complements Helen's investigative skills. The series cuts back and forth between Greece, Cyprus and Canterbury, New Zealand

The series premiered on Channel 5 in the UK in September 2025 and in on UPtv in the United States in October 2025. It is still being released globally in 2026 and is currently available on Amazon Prime New Zealand in New Zealand and various other countries.
The series is being released by distributor Studio TF1 America.
Premise
The Sunshine Murders follows Shirley Rangi, a New Zealand farmer from Canterbury, who, after the death of her mother, discovers that the man she thought was her natural father was not. Her lawyer informs her that her father was in fact Greek and last known to live in Athens. Shirley then travels to Athens, where she learns her father has been missing for many years and that she has a half-sister, Helen Moustakas, who is a detective in the Greek Police Force. Shirley tracks Helen down to aid in finding their father. Whilst involving herself in Helen's life, Shirley inadvertently helps Helen solve crimes involving tourists, using her rural farming and bush knowledge.
Reception
The reception has been warm with reviewers describing it as "super cute and entertaining"[1] and a "fresh new series that offers crime and mystery but welcomes the entire family allowing entertainment for all"[2] with 'the right amount of comedy, heartfelt family moments, and mind-bending murder mysteries'[3] and plots being delivered with a lively take of characters and infused with great humour'.[2] The locations have been much admired too and are described as set amidst the backdrop of the Mediterranean, offering a sunny escape as audiences."[4] There has been positive comments about the production value and actors, the episodes are teeming with decent camerawork and two charismatic lead actors[5]
