Professional Background

Toni Ruiz began his professional career at Leroy Merlin Spain, part of the Adeo Group, where he spent over 15 years as financial director for the Spanish market and as director of control and planning at a global level. [2]

Career at Mango

In 2015, he took charge of Mango's finance department, and 3 years later, he assumed the role of general manager of the fashion company. In March 2020, he was appointed CEO of the company. Under his leadership, the company has achieved positive results.

By the end of 2021, with Ruiz as CEO, Mango closed the fiscal year with a net profit of 67 million euros, a figure that triples the 21 million euros obtained by the company in 2019. [3]

In 2022, the company earned 81 million euros and set a sales record with a turnover of 2.688 billion euros. [4]

In 2023, Mango reached a turnover of 3.104 billion euros, 15% higher than in 2022, and doubled its net profit to 172.1 million euros. [5]

In 2024, the textile company achieved a turnover of 3.339 billion euros, 7.6% more than in 2023, and a net profit of 219 million euros. Ruiz has succeeded in turning Mango into a company that outpaces the market in growth. [6]

Since Toni Ruiz assumed the position of CEO of Mango, the company has received various recognitions. In 2021, Mango was awarded the CEL Award in the Company category for the excellence of its supply chain and the automation of its logistics center in Lliçà d’Amunt.

In 2023, it was recognised as one of the best employers in the world by Forbes' 'World's Best Employers 2023' ranking.[7]

That same year, Mango received the UK-Spain Business Awards, an accolade that recognises companies that create and promote trade relations and economic growth between the United Kingdom and Spain. [8]

A year later, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Italy awarded the company for its expansion strategy in the country, recognising the opening of more than 30 stores in 3 years. [9]

Mango also received the 2024 Company of the Year award, as decided by the jury of the 2024 Banc Sabadell Company of the Year Awards, an accolade held annually by El Periódico. [10]

By 2025, Mango was recognised by the Financial Times as one of the best companies to work for in Europe. [11] Additionally, that same year, the Barcelona-based multinational received the award for Best Business Project at the Spanish Fashion Awards.[12] In addition, the LinkedIn platform honoured the company with the 'Best Culture of Connection – Conversation' award for its ability to foster community and dialogue through its corporate channels. [13]

In 2024, under Toni Ruiz's leadership, Mango established its first board of directors with independent members. Until then, the board consisted solely of Isak Andic and other executives, although the company also had external advisors. The institutionalisation of corporate governance is one of the hallmarks of Ruiz's tenure.

In January 2025, the Board of Directors of Mango MNG S.A. (the company that encompasses Mango's business) unanimously approved the appointment of Toni Ruiz as the new chairman of the company, following the death of Isak Andic in December 2024. [14] Thus, Ruiz continues as CEO, while also assuming the role of chairman of the company's board of directors.

Additionally, Toni Ruiz is the only Mango shareholder outside the Andic family. Since 2023, the executive has held a 5% stake in the group, when Isak Andic, supported by Mango's Board of Directors, decided to grant it to him, considering him one of the architects of Mango's growth over the past 5 years.[15]

Awards and Recognitions

In December 2024, Ruiz received the 'Business Leader of the Year 2024' award. The accolade was presented in New York by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United States, in recognition of Mango's international expansion and the company's exponential growth in the U.S.[16]

Meanwhile, the business magazine Forbes España honoured Toni Ruiz with the 'Best Vision of the Future 2025' award for his transformative leadership in a ceremony held in Davos, Switzerland, during the World Economic Forum. [17]

Ruiz also received the 'Fashion Industry CEO of the Year' award, presented by the Spanish newspaper La Razón, in recognition of his strategic vision and his ability to keep the brand at the forefront of international fashion. [18]
