Comment: To qualify for an entry then notability requirements by Wikipedia's definitions will need to be met. That isn't present, nor is there adequate sourcing for verification. The sources here do not tightly confirm the text as presented, some URLs have only the most vague relationship to the subject. There are several criteria that may apply to the subject, such as WP:MUSICBIO and WP:NCREATIVE, but also the WP:GOLDENRULE but it boils down to three lots of independent reliable sources giving in depth coverage. All facts need sources, many do not here. ChrysGalley (talk) 10:55, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Biography and career
Kvarnsmyr studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and began his career in the advertising industry. During his professional life, he worked at advertising agencies such as Arbman & Lenskog and Hans Brindfors Annonsbyrå AB. In the 1980s, he founded and ran his own advertising agency, Grappo. As an art director and designer, he has worked on commissions for major brands and organisations, including SAS, Polarn O. Pyret, Canon and Svanen. His work has been nominated for the Guldägget award in the Consumer Advertising category.[1]
Kvarnsmyr has been noted during his career for his rapid adaptation to technological shifts in the industry, from analogue advertising production and photography to digital technology.
In February 1997, Kvarnsmyr moved to Rone on Gotland. He initially established his studio at Hamnplan in Visby, before later relocating the base of his freelance practice to Västerhejde. As an art director and photographer, he has specialised in graphic design and large-format and fine art prints for exhibitions.[2]
Formguide Gotland
From 1999 onwards, Kvarnsmyr was the designer and principal photographer for Formguide Gotland, a project run in collaboration with project managers Kerstin and Dan Leonette. The guide, published in six annual editions, documented the Gotlandic design world by presenting a large number of the island's designers, artisans, artists, cafés and restaurants, and was published both in print and digitally.[3][4]
Teaching
From the 2000s, Kvarnsmyr has also been active as an educator. He has taught students in aesthetic and media subjects at schools in Slite, Klinte and Visby, including at Gutegymnasiet and Donnergymnasiet.
Västerhejdekrönikan and exhibitions
He is active in local publishing as art director, photographer and advertising manager for the local magazine Västerhejdekrönikan, which in February 2025 was named "Gotland's best parish newsletter" by Helagotland.se.[5] That same month, he launched a large-scale environmental exhibition in Visby Gallerian focusing on Gotland's groundwater and the impact of limestone quarrying on local hydrogeology.
Music
As a performing musician, Kvarnsmyr plays trumpet and flugelhorn and is an active figure in the Gotlandic jazz scene. He has performed in a variety of ensembles and orchestras, with a repertoire that often spans traditional jazz and bossa nova.
Kvarnsmyr has been active in the following groups, among others:
- Stardust Little Big Band — Bandleader of this big band performing traditional big band jazz from the 1930s, 40s and 50s, often with specially written arrangements by jazz musician Claes Rosendahl.[6]
- Cinobra — A Gotland-based band focusing on jazz and bossa nova.
- Kvarnsmyr & Östborn — A quartet specialising in "Cool & Soft Jazz & Bossa".
- JazzoSophie — A jazz project featuring, among others, Sophie Malmros and Charlie Östborn.
- Soft Jazz Quartett — A quartet specialising in soft jazz.
- Other collaborations including Jazzt, Gotlands blandade blåsare and Göran Ringbom med Hamra kapell.
In addition to concerts at venues such as Botan and Vamlingbo Kulturscen, Kvarnsmyr is a regular musician at memorial concerts, such as the Sanda Jazz Station at the Lars Gullin museum in Sanda.[7] He also performed the ceremonial fanfares (including a rendition of Gotländsk sommarnatt) at the inauguration of the Odvalds care home in Hemse.[8]
