The podcast was founded following Gendler's more than two decades in the live entertainment industry. In 1999, he co-founded EBE Events & Entertainment, which grew into one of the largest private entertainment companies on the East Coast before its sale in 2024[2]. Throughout his career, Gendler has worked as a musician, producer, and entertainment executive, collaborating on recording projects for organizations including the NFL and NASCAR and producing live entertainment for corporate clients, professional sports organizations, and public figures.

Since its debut, Tribute Band Sessions has featured interviews with musicians, tribute artists, managers, promoters, television personalities, and music industry executives. Guests have included music manager Simon Napier-Bell, television host Katie Daryl, and members of internationally recognized tribute productions including Brit Floyd, Get The Led Out, and The Musical Box, among others.

Originally conceived as a series documenting the tribute band industry, the podcast has expanded to feature conversations with recording artists and entertainment professionals about their careers, creative process, touring experiences, and the evolving music business[3]. The program is produced remotely and has featured guests from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other countries.

The podcast has released more than 60 episodes and continues to document the cultural and commercial impact of tribute artists and the broader live music industry.
