Career

Kuosa has worked at the Finland Futures Research Centre of the Turku School of Economics.[3] He has also worked at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) in Singapore.[4]

Kuosa has been described in independent sources as a founding partner of Futures Platform, a foresight and futures intelligence company, and has led its multidisciplinary futures research activities.[5][6]

Kuosa has been cited in Finnish media as an expert on the future of work, education and changing occupational structures.[7]

Research

Kuosa's research has focused on strategic foresight methodologies, futures intelligence and long-term societal transformation.

His doctoral dissertation, Towards the Dynamic Paradigm of Futures Research: How to Grasp a Complex Futures Problem with Multiple Phases and Multiple Methods (2009), examined methodological challenges in analysing complex futures problems.[8]

In The Evolution of Strategic Foresight: Navigating Public Policy Making (2012), Kuosa examined the development of strategic foresight as a field.[9]

In Towards Strategic Intelligence (2014), he explored connections between foresight, intelligence analysis and public policy-making.[10]

His work has also appeared in security and strategic research contexts. A 2024 research bulletin by the Finnish Defence Research Agency and the National Defence Academy of Latvia used Futures Platform scenario sets in analysing the security implications of the Russo-Ukrainian war.[11]

He is a docent of strategic foresight at the Finnish National Defence University.[12]
