History

Islam, specifically the Ahmadiyya branch, was introduced to Tuvalu in 1985 by Dr. Iftikhar A. Ayaz, a British Ahmadi Muslim and the British consular representative to Tuvalu.[2][1] In 1989, Ghanaian Ahmadi missionary Hafiz Jibrail (also known as Jibreel Ahmad Saeed) arrived in Tuvalu and served until 1991, when he was transferred to Kiribati and replaced by Abdul Ghaffar.[3] The Quran was translated into Tuvaluan in 1990. Construction of the mosque began in 1987 under Ayaz’s supervision and was completed in 1991.[2]

The mosque has a capacity of approximately 100 worshippers.
