A UTAC ( Universal Telecom Access Code ) is a GS1 (of type GSRN) EAN18-code used in Belgium to identity in a unique way the optical network termination point (ONTP.[1]) for FTTH in a building unit.

UTAC usage
The UTAC is a stable ID that does not get modified when a customer moves, takes another subscription or changes operator using the same physical fiber access.[2]
This ID is not to be used for service layer or higher references, it is meant to be used on the physical resource level.
Service operators describe how the UTAC might be used in their processes and interactions like for UTAC reference in FTTH GPON Wholesale Proximus Bitstream.[3]

The label is normally on the fiber connection box at the customer premise[4][5]
The UTAC number can otherwise be provided by your network operator.
GS1
A network operator can order their range at GS1.
For this one needs to set up a ‘GS1’ account: My GS1.[6]
You need to enter the company details (as in company register Belgium - KBO/BanqueCarrefour number, VAT, etc.), an e-mail address for invoicing and a contact e-mail address (with ‘contact’ details) which will be used for the login. It's also possible that you'll need to send a document of the company's creation (because you don't yet have any revenue information).
Then you can order your EAN18 (aka UTAC) range via the GS1 webshop using MyProductManager.[7]
Depending on the required number of asset references you need, select a company prefix Prefix11 (up to 1.000.000 UTAC / EAN18 numbers) (smallest possible range).For such range there is a small fee to pay per year ( < 100€ ).
