Controversy
AI Impact Summit Protest Case (2026)
On 20 February 2026, members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest at the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Delhi Police subsequently arrested IYC President Udai Bhanu Chib and 13 others in connection with the demonstration.[26]
Padala was attributed the role of designing the T-shirts allegedly used during the protest and is stated to have aided the alleged main conspirators in planning the demonstration.[27][28] Delhi Police stated in court that the alleged main organiser, Siddharth Avdhoot, was taking assistance from Padala and that he needed to be arrested and interrogated.[29]
On 11 March 2026, Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal of the Patiala House Court granted Padala interim protection from arrest, directing Delhi Police to serve a seven-day notice before any arrest while ordering his full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.[30][31][32][33][34]
The protection granted operates as anticipatory bail under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973. The investigation was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police.
