Development
Since 2014, Quentin Tarantino has maintained that he seeks to retire from directing following the release of his tenth film, something he has dubbed " an epilogue" to his film directing career.[1]
In March 2023, it was announced that Tarantino's final feature film would be titled The Movie Critic, and would be a period film set in 1970s Los Angeles, with Sony Pictures acquiring the distribution rights.[2] By December 2023, John Travolta, Kurt Russell, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson were in consideration for the film.[3][4][5] In February 2024, Brad Pitt was cast in the film, as potentially the lead.[6] In April 2024, it was reported that Tarantino had cancelled the film, and that he would be working on a different film altogether.[7]
