From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vai/Gash (officially marked on the frontal cover artwork of the album as Steve Vai presents: Vai/Gash) is the eleventh studio album by American guitarist Steve Vai, released through Favored Nations (Favored Nations Entertainment) and Mascott (Mascot Label Group).[8][9] The album was initially recorded in 1991. At that time, Steve Vai was interested in and immersed himself into biker culture.[10] The LP is a tribute dedicated to Johnny “Gash” Sombretto, a biker whom Steve Vai met, befriended, and collaborated with during the early 1990s. Johnny “Gash” Sombretto provided vocals on the songs on this album.[11] In counterpart, Steve Vai performed on all the instruments on this record. The album was released on CD, vinyl, and digital download format.

Background
The album was set to be released at some point during the 1990s. It was recorded approximately two years before Sex & Religion, the third solo studio album of Steve Vai, released in 1993. The album was inspired by 1970s classic rock music which Steve Vai appreciated listening to.[12] The album was subsequently released many years later in 2023.[13]
