Development
VisualDub was developed by NeuralGarage, a Bengaluru-based generative artificial intelligence company founded in 2021.[1][3]
Technology
VisualDub uses generative artificial intelligence to modify lip movements and facial expressions in video footage so that they correspond with dubbed dialogue in different languages.[1][2] The system operates on existing video footage rather than requiring new recordings.[1] According to The Statesman, the technology synchronizes actors’ lip movements with dubbed audio while maintaining the original resolution and color of the footage across frames.[4]
Applications
VisualDub has been used in Indian film and television productions including Kesari Chapter 2, Special Ops, Coolie, and War 2.[2][5] The technology has also been used in advertising campaigns, including Amazon India advertisements that were visually dubbed into several regional languages.[6]
